Funding

The cost of supporting the activities of Stroke North has increased steadily over the years. The main cost is the provision of a subsidised taxi service. The taxi service ensures that members, who cannot travel independently to meetings, can do so and participate in the club and its activities.

We have also been able to provide subsidised meals at restaurants or visits to places of interest using adapted coaches or the taxi service. In the past, we applied for and received grants from charitable trusts to support the taxi service or the outings and meals. Such grants have been difficult to access in the current financial difficulties and we are more dependent  upon alternative forms of funding.

In addition to the grants, we have received a number of donations arising from sponsored events: a three day cycling tour by staff from Hammerite Paints, participation in the Great North Run. We have also received donations arising from the  proceeds of Tombolas and Raffles. Each Christmas we organise a Grand Christmas Draw. Prizes for this are donated by members and businesses. We have also received donations from families in lieu of flowers or in memory of deceased relatives.

How you can help

Personal Donations

These can be made using a number of strategies:

By cheque, on line or by cash

Use Gift Aid to increase your donation by 25%. We can reclaim from HM Revenue and Customs the equivalent  Income tax, paid at 25%on donations made by UK Taxpayers. To reclaim the Income Tax, we have to submit the full name, address (including the post code) and a statement from the donor confirming they are a UK Taxpayer and wish the donation to be Gift Aided. The tax paid will be returned to Stroke North provided the donor has paid the equivalent amount of tax.

Donations can be made by cheque to Danny White, Stroke North, 32 Broadway Court, Highbridge, Gosforth, NE3 2NZ
